I went solo to HAGS, and sat at the bar. I would 1000% recommend this experience. This place was insane. The service was wonderful, and the place itself was beautiful. It was intimate and small. I had the vegan tasting menu, and two additional courses- a lot of their vegan substitutes and some beverages they make in house, so they had their own vegan cheese which was delicious. There were not really 6 courses, there were 8, 10 including additional. Every single one was phenomenal. It was food that encouraged you to shut your eyes to taste it, and wish there was more whilst there was also the perfect amount. This place needs a Michelin star, it trumps a few of the Michelin starred places I have been to, and I cannot believe it is the price it is. The wine pairings and non wine pairings were wonderful (I did 50/50). It was unique and every drink made complete sense with the plate in front of me. I had a very beautiful experience at HAGS. It celebrates queerness, veganness and you will celebrate it after you have been here. Do it.

Subtly crafted and well engineered meal cozies up to the senses. The restaurant space is seamlessly welcoming, from the host at the door asking for our coats when we walked in, to the corner table we sat at, to the beautiful wine glass rack inside the green curtained ceiling, to the ambient 80s music humming in the background, to our coats being ready for us when we left to catch our Uber... and we didn’t even get to the food yet! Each course in six with wine pairing was well-shaped, expertly prepped and heartwarming. I had a starter of beets: beety bruschetta with shaved horseradish atop a coconut base and beety fresh oyster entertained by some fried chips. This was followed by a well-steamed leek, an island among sauces. This dish tasted vaguely asian and came paired with a curious sake that tasted almost like soy sauce. Following was a squash adorned by squash flowers. There is something very pleasant about the curlicue exterior shape of the squash lined up to the homemade square layers of pasta. There was a vegan buttered sourdough much to the tune of “I can’t believe it’s not butter”. Next we approached a dish of skate wing, cooked to perfection, which came apart in much the same way as Polly-O string cheese, perfectly lovely. After that a duck dish which was visually striking, although not my favorite dish. We finished with a deconstructed dessert combining ice cream, cake, chocolate ganache and pear. All in all, very replete. Service was extra friendly, and the setting was comfortably top-notch. All in all an excellent place for those with a discerning American palate and a taste for the wild mild.

Absolutely phenomenal! This was hands-down one of the most exceptional and creatively executed tasting menus I’ve ever had—vegan or otherwise. Every course was a masterclass in flavor, texture, and presentation. You can tell the chef isn’t just cooking plant-based food; they’re creating art with it. From the first bite to the last, each dish was thoughtfully composed, showcasing unexpected ingredients and bold, vibrant flavors that played off each other beautifully. The pacing of the courses was perfect, and the staff were incredibly knowledgeable, walking us through the inspiration and elements of each plate. Whether you’re vegan or simply a lover of great food, this is the kind of dining experience that sticks with you. It’s a rare gem that pushes boundaries while staying deeply satisfying. The all female chef staff was also amazing to see in action. Highly recommend!

Fantastic food, fantastic service, fantastic wine. Truly a great place to dine for lovers of cusine, fine dining, and trying new flavors and executions. Especially loved letting the Beverage Director, Camille take over, they gave amazing recommendations for the table and is very passionate about the winelist. I would recommend the cinnamon roll, the crudo, and the tempeh schnitzel, and grits.

One of the best dining experiences I've ever had. The servers were super friendly, knowledgeable about the dishes, and willing to talk about anything. They even asked for feedback about the current menu options. Not to mention the food was beyond this world delicious and the wine pairings complimented every serving.

Exceptional cuisine, service and hospitality at an LGBT friendly fine dining gem. Each of the dishes were as delicious as they were beautifully presented. The flavors were all delicately balanced, showcasing the high quality, sustainably sourced ingredients. The housemade bread course was among the best I’ve had in recent memory and could have satisfied me for dinner with a glass of wine. The well curated wine list features low intervention, small producers from around the world, and really compliments the cuisine. The atmosphere is cozy and comfortable; perfect for a single or group party. There are two tasting menu options - vegan or omnivore. Note, the service charge (tip) is included in the menu price. I highly recommend HAGS and hope to return on my next visit to New York.

I straight up cannot say enough nice things about my dinner here on Tuesday night. Start to finish, no notes, it was so so so good. The restaurant is super small with only 5 tables as well as seats at the bar so the space is very intimate. The service was absolutely exceptional while not feeling stuffy or formal. We had a 6:30 reservation and left around 9:30 so be prepared for a leisurely experience. I ordered the vegan menu while my friend ordered the omnivore and we were both delighted. When they give you the option for the cheese course before dessert take them up on it! The vegan cashew cheese was so interesting and honestly really good. I did not opt for wine pairings but my friend said that they were great. 100% recommend!

A truly joyful experience. From the moment we walked in, the warmth of the service stood out, welcoming, relaxed, and attentive without being overbearing. The interiors are fantastic: thoughtful, cosy, and elegant. The food itself strikes a rare balance – it’s creative and complex but still comforting and deeply satisfying. I sometimes find vegan food can be a little too fussy or overwrought, but everything here felt perfectly cooked, with flavours that were layered and well balanced. Both the wine and non-alcoholic pairings were excellent, and the staff were incredibly knowledgeable, happy to share details etc. Hags is a special place – the kind of dinner that really makes you smile.
